Happy Holidays Burke Skiers & Riders
December 21 was not only the anti-climactic end of the Mayan calendar, it was also the end of autumn and the beginnig of winter, our favorite season here at Burke. We survived a wild week of weather and entering the official start to winter in very good shape. The heavy wet snow that has fallen this week provides an ideal base that should allow for the immediate opening of additional natural snow trails over the next few days. Our snowmakers and new snowmaking system also continue to work whenever temperatures allow. To start the vacation period we have over 20 trails open, including 100% here at the Sherburne Base area. Look for us to increase the trail count daily thourgh the week as temperatures are looking to be ideal for snowmaking. The weather pattern also appears to be set up for some Christmas week offerings in the form of multiple snowstorms during the vacation week – so stay tuned. It has been snowing since this morning-with multiple hard bursts of heavy snow at times-we may see more trails as early as tomorrow!
We hope you are able to find some time during this often hectic holiday time to enjoy the company of friends and family, and we couldn’t recommend a better place to do that than at Burke. But no matter where you spend your holiday, from all of the staff at Burke, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday week.
As always, THINK SNOW!
