Happy Holidays! First off, I’m really looking forward to seeing all of our Burke families and friends over the holiday season. One of my favorite times of the ski season, it’s really nice to catch up with everyone again after the summer break.
Although things have gotten off to a slow start (wake up Mother Nature, it's the first day of winter!) Our mountain ops team is working very hard to get snow on the hill and the snow guns are running every minute they can. Right now, I have all my fingers and toes crossed that the snow I see falling this morning (at 10:21am) will stay snow throughout the day today, if not on the whole mountain, at least at the summit. I am itching, like I’m sure you all are, to take my first run from the Mid Burke Express.
So the load testing for the Mid Burke Express is still in progress today. If all goes well, we should be open by Friday, so get those skis tuned up and ready to go. Friday we should be able to groom out some trails from the summit and also have the Base Area open with the Sherburne Express along with the Kingdom Cafeteria, retail shops, and rental and repair shops.
Looking into the week ahead, the plan is to move snowmaking to the Dippers and Dashney Mile early next week and hopefully a bit of the natural stuff will fall from the sky too!
There’s lots going on at the mountain through the holiday break, check out our events calendar for a list of activities & events for all ages. We are totally psyched to have the Wicked Smart Horn Band here to ring in 2012 with us, so if you plan to feast and boogie into the New Year, the Tamarack Grill is the place for you. Make your reservations soon at 802.626.7300 and warm up your dancing shoes.
Pizza Night has moved back home to the Bear Den Lounge and tonight we will listen to the musical sounds of local performer Ricky Golden. Enjoy the après ski/work atmosphere over a nice cold pint and a delicious hot pizza.
Happy Holidays to everyone! See you on the slopes very soon!
