For many of you, there's still time to squeeze in a few more weekends of fun in the sun before this beautiful summer season leaves us behind. For us, the end of the Labor Day Weekend signals the start of a very busy time here at the mountain. We now have winter on the brain. We are seeing more & more winter staff back at the mountain each day, with specific jobs to get done before we open the doors to another ski season. The snowguns have arrived, keeping our mountain ops guys very busy, and the trail crew started yesterday on trail maintenance. There is work to be done to the lodges, lifts, cafeterias and roads-it’s go time.
By the time you get to the mountain this winter, everything will be put back in its place, repaired, coated with a fresh coat of paint and ready to welcome our guests back for another winter. We are especially psyched about the new snowmaking project now underway. Weather permitting, we have a plan to open earlier then ever before and have set a target opening date of Friday, November 23 so keep those cold, fall temperature wishes coming our way and your fingers crossed.
Another great addition this season is The Judge Season Pass. The two great mountains of the Northeast Kingdom have joined together to offer you one BIG season pass. To get the full history visit www.greatbigkingdom.com and make sure to get yours before October 15 for the best deal PLUS a coupon book of over $200 in on mountain savings at both resorts. We are also working on a few other Burke/Jay Peak combo products that we think you’ll love, so stay tuned for that also.
In the meantime, there’s still plenty of fun for you to have before the first flakes (natural or man-made) fall from the sky. Lift served mountain biking at the Burke Bike Park is open until October 14 and if you haven’t given it a try, the Gravity School is still open for lessons of all ability types.
For the adventurous types, don’t forget the Burke Bike Park Kingdom Enduro, right around the corner on October 13th. This race will be awesome, with three timed sections on the Kingdom Trails and Burke Bike Park, so be sure to register early and save yourself some money.
The first performance of our Fall Music Series is just around the corner on September 8, with a FANTASTIC country rock band out of Burlington, VT-Weylon Speed. We've got some great acts lined up for the Fall Foliage season-we hope to see you at one or all of these shows! And on the subject of great music in the Northeast Kingdom, don’t miss the opportunity to see a first class show with David Grisman, hosted by our neighbors to the north at Jay Peak Resort on September 23.
There's lots of activity in the Northeast Kingdom right now, so come and enjoy it with us!
Go ahead, it's OK-THINK SNOW!
All the best,
